Community Projects
Our children are all active in the local community and as a school we are always looking for ways that we can make an impact locally, within the Church community and globally.
We are currently focusing on:
Greenwich Food Bank
We have a link with the Food Bank and over the last year have set up a collection point at Christ Church. Please send donations in to school, which we will then deliver to the Food Bank. We regularly check with the Food Bank to find out what the greatest need is and this information will be published in our school newsletter.
Litter-picking
Children regularly go out to do litter-picking around the school grounds and the woods. We are committed to keeping the area clean and tidy for everyone in the area and of course will carefully recycle rubbish that we collect.
Bishop of Southwark Lent Call
Each year, the Bishop’s Lent Call raises funds for local community projects in Southwark and our Link Dioceses in Zimbabwe and Jerusalem.
In 2023, the theme is “mental health & well-being”, and we the diocese are featuring projects that help with access to medical care both here and in our Link Diocese in Jerusalem. Access to food is a common theme too as worry about being able to feed the family leads to enormous stress, so they have also featured foodbanks here and nutritional gardens in our Link Dioceses in Zimbabwe.
As part of the Church community, at Christ Church we have been raising money to support the Bishops' Lent Call. At the start of May, Year 3 visited Southwark Cathedral to take part in the Bishop of Southwark’s Lent Call Service, giving thanks to the schools who supported the project.
